It certainly seems like the full skirt trend is here
to stay and I for one, have no complaints! J
Appearing in knee length and midi (hovers in the
middle of mini and maxi skirts) styles, the full skirt is a style that can take
you anywhere from office to beach to wedding from day to night! It is indeed a
must-have multi-functional piece.
Hailing from the Spring 2014 fashion week where
designers like Oscar De La renta, Jean Paul Gautier, Vivienne Westwood and
Christian Dior presented various shapes and sizes of the full skirt, the trend
has weaseled its way from the runway to streets without difficulty.
It is very easy to style and can be combined with
anything from t-shirts to crop tops to fitted blouses to even cami tops. I
would suggest heels (pointy stilettos or kitten heels and ankle straps are my
favourites) for the skirts with a longer length but the knee-length styles can
go either way; stilettos, sandals or ballet flats.
Retro, romantic and very ladylike, the voluminous
full skirt is one of the few trends that says we can slack at the gym every now
and then. The high-waisted nature ensures that it suits any body shape. Full
figured, slender, athletic and petite women can partake in this trend and look
as stylish as ever.
The skirts come in a variety of fabrics. Leather,
silk, tulle, polyester, taffeta and cotton are probably the most popular.
Whether in bright colors, floral prints or metallic hues, the full skirt just
can’t help looking amazingly pretty.
Celebrities, career women, students and even tomboys
are binging on this trend. Don’t be left out, It’s for everyone!
